Proposal for a long walk to the castle Spangenburg
(Needed time: to the castle and back, approx. 3 hours)

What expects the visitor of the castle Spangenburg?

A small good restored middle-age ruin of a castle with a reconstructed castle-bar-service (Please ask the Ferienvilla-management for the opening hours).

Description of the way:

  • Coming from the Villa, leave the property to the left side (west)
  • After approx. 50 m comes a street. You have to turn to the left side
  • After another 50 m turns the street to the right and the left side. You use the right side and use the next possibility to turn again to the right side to a street called Schorlenbergstraße
  • This street turns into a not asphalt bicycle path which you have to use
  • When the way parts in two ways, use the right one
  • The main direction is always straight ahead (west)
  • Later you will reach an asphalt way where you have to turn to the left to the village Iptestal
  • At Iptestal follow the curves through the village and go straight ahead in direction west, till you reach the village Erfenstein, where you can see the castle Spangenburg on the left side in the forest
  • Walk along the street beside the rails to the near forest-car park
  • There are two possibilities to reach the castle:
    • take the left side and follow the described narrow path to the castle or
    • take the right side and take the well-extended way to the castle.

Near the castle and easy to reach: the old spring of the castle, the medieval fence and a small rock quarry
